Joan Scott

Joan has always enjoyed painting - at school she gained 'O' level Art and started attending Art Classes in 1978. After gaining an 'A' level in Art in 1992 she continued to study and develop her techniques eventually studying Fine Art at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth (now AUB), completed in June 2004. This gave her the opportunity to study the work of artists throughout history while being in contact locally with others, both professional and students. All have greatly influenced her work.

Joan works in mixed media (collage, acrylic inks and oil pastels) as well as abstract and semi-abstract acrylic on canvas.

Her work is exhibited in the Lazyhill Gallery at Abbotsbury, occasionally with the National Trust, in local cafes and show flats on Sandbanks. She is a regular exhibitor in local exhibitions as well as Dorset Art Weeks Open Studio Events, and her work is in private collections around the world.

In July 2007 Joan was the Winner of the CADArts Open Art Exhibition at the Red House Museum, Christchurch. She has had paintings selected for the Mall Galleries in London with the Discerning Eye and the Society of Women Artists Open Exhibitions.
