Barbara Davis

Barbara’s interest lies in responding to the energy of her chosen subject. She enjoys painting landscape, still life and portraits and uses all mediums. She likes to have colour and movement in her paintings, linked with atmosphere and a bit of excitement.

Having had no formal art training and as a late starter her work was initially quite figurative. However, with increased confidence she has moved to a more abstract but still representational style.

As a creative person she is constantly responding to her surroundings. Colour is an intense interest in her life and the work of Rose Hilton is an inspiration. Other major influences are Frances Bacon, Patrick Heron and Frank Auerbach.
